The market town of Ottensheim is a historical trading hub, influenced by its former Danube ford. Currently, a roller ferry connects the two riverbanks. Today`s Danube promenade consists of the old town center and a landscape park. The design of the new flood protection tries to honor the Genius Loci of Ottensheim by intervening considerately and sustainably into the existing urban and landscape environment.
