The beauty of the cultural landscape and the omnipresent river Danube were the defining framework conditions for the incorporation of flood protection facilities into the residential area of Rossatz. Furthermore, the village is part of the “Wachau Cultural Landscape” heritage site. Walls, dams and a warehouse were the tools highlighted by the selected appearance and finishing. The goal was to add and fit them to the existing landscape and the village structure using the subtle and self-explanatory language of architecture.
