The uniqueness and remarkability lie in the panoramic view of the historic monuments the existing building offers and not in the building itself. An ever better view can be observed from the new roof expansion.
Inspired by Gottfried Sempers‘ “The Textile as Structural Framework” the design concept is to drape the rooftop expansion in a translucent, shady stainless steel fabric. Below it is the actual roof with randomly occurring openings. As a result the stainless steel texture is compatible with the existing rooftop topography and delivers the required transparency for the view.
